Design is not inherently neutral. Design decisions are made in small and big ways that impact behaviors and outcomes for very real people every single day. Designers are trained to solve these problems simply, and with the underlying intent of improving people’s lives. But are we really conscious of the impact the decisions we make have on people’s lives? What about when we’re faced with a request from an employer to do something explicitly unethical? How can we equip ourselves to determine where the lines should be drawn?
Please join us for an evening conversation with some leaders in the NYC design community as we discuss these topics and some strategies for awareness and action.
